THE VENUE

The Convention will be held primarily at the Rizqun International Hotel. This hotel is directly linked to The Mall, Gadong giving you access to shops, restaurants and cafes and a cinema for your entertainment.

The Gadong area also hosts The Centrepoint Hotel which is only a 5 minute walk from the Convention venue. There are many other eating places and shops to see in this area including the famous Gadong Night Market where you can buy practically anything for just B$1!

ACCOMMODATION WITH COMPLIMENTARY TOUR

Friday, 9th November 2012	Arrival transfer from Brunei International Airport to hotel of your choice Free and easy OR optional tour in the afternoon.
	OPTIONAL TOUR – Requires a minimum of 10 pax @B$42 per person (Normal Price of Tour: B$75) Water Village and Visit House ( 2 hours ) Generally recognized as the world’s largest water village, Kampong Ayer extends out over the Brunei River from both banks, and is home to around 30,000 people. Even four centuries ago, the size and complexity of Kampong Ayer greatly impressed the Magellan expedition, which received a stately welcome upon entering Brunei Bay in 1521. It is know to early European as the “Venice of the East”. It is claimed to be the largest water village in the world and home to 30,000 peoples complete with schools, clinics, police station, shop and mosques. This tour includes boat ride along the Brunei River visit to Kampong Ayer Cultural and Tourism Gallery and visit to a private home for the local tea break. Return to hotel. NB: Water village boat ride includes the use of a pontoon boat. Life jackets are provided by Sunshine Borneo Tours. Please be reminded to bring a hat, suntan lotion and to wear long sleeves if necessary. Pick up time : 1400 hrs from hotel’s lobby . Saturday, 10th November 2012	At 0730 hrs , pick up from the hotel’s lobby and transfer to Rizqun International Hotel for District 87 Toastmasters Semi Annual Convention . After Gala Night, transfer back to hotel.
Sunday, 11th November 2012	At 0730 hrs, pick up from the hotel’s lobby and transfer to Rizqun International Hotel for District 87 Toastmasters Semi Annual Convention. At 1400 hrs, meet up at Rizqun International Hotel for Complimentary tour: Introduction to Sultanate. This tour will take about 3 ½ hours and will cover part of Brunei’s history, religion, culture, heritage and daily life of locals. This tour includes two photo stops: First – outside the royal palace, Istana Nurul Iman (which means “The Palace of Light”) which is the biggest residential palace in the world with 1788 rooms from Damuan Park and Second – a photo stop of The Water Village or popularly known as “The Venice of The East”, along the roadside. Visit the magnificently built mosque, The Jame Asr’ Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque which has twenty-nine 24K golden-topped domes (All mosques are closed for inside visit on Thursday and Friday and some public holidays. In the case of inside visit, requires the removal of footwear and to use non revealing outfit). The Brunei Museum: where guests can learn Brunei’s Muslim heritage, view the rare Islamic collection of His Majesty, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, natural history collection, cultures and traditions of the locals, sunken treasures and the foundation of Oil and Gas industry. The Royal Regalia where it is a home to a collection of royal regalia, royal chariot, gold and silver ceremonial armory. A visit to Empire Hotel & Country Club is also included. You will get the chance to view the hotel as well as to taste their own made cakes at The Zest. NB: For Mosque visits, visitors are requested to dress appropriately i.e. Non-revealing clothing or long trousers that cover the knees. Women will be given robes to wear upon entering the mosque. This is unavoidable unless one is a Muslim. Men who dress appropriately will not be required to wear robes. You will also be required to remove all footwear. For Royal Regalia, it is recommended to wear socks as you are required to take off your shoes and the marbled floors are very cold.

Terms & Conditions:  

• Confirmed room booking will be acknowledged through email once full payment is received.
• Payment must be made directly to Sunshine Borneo Tours.
• An additional 3% service charge will be administered on top of total charges for each credit card payment transaction.
• Any bookings made after 9th October 2012 will be charged an administration fee of B$50 per booking.
• Cancellation received before 22nd October 2012 will not incur any charges.
• If a cancellation is made 14 working days and less before the date of arrival, there will be a 50% cancellation charge.
• If a cancellation is made 7 working days and less before the date of arrival, there will be a 100% cancellation charge.

A Note from the Committee: Taxis are hard to come by in Brunei, so it would be best if you could ask the hotel to arrange for your airport transfers as well as arrange for shuttle services to the Convention venue. Some hotels do not charge for such shuttle services whereas there are other hotels that do. The accommodation listed below should be able to fit your budget.

 Other accommodation for you to consider:

• Kiulap is the next busiest location after Gadong. There are many shops, spas, restaurants and cafes and a cinema available in this area.  However, transport is required which approximately takes 10 minutes (depending on traffic) to reach Gadong and taxis are usually hard to come by but the hotel may be able to arrange a shuttle service at a fee. There are two hotels recommended namely the Kiulap Plaza Hotel and the Palm Garden Hotel.
